Home Sweet Home

As I told you in my last post I was awaiting my new brand camera and it was in that very same day that I was able to pick it up. After a lot of thinking I decided to buy a Canon 7D with a new 50mm objective, much better than the one I already have.

I haven’t been playing a lot with it yet. Its manual is huge, it looks more like a book rather than a simple instruction manual. And although I can manage to work with it, I do really have to spend some time reading it and learning how to use all those new buttons and understanding those numbers in the display.

Finally on Saturday we got some time to “know” each other. First thing I noticed was how heavy it is, much heavier than my old camera even with a light objective like the 50mm. But it’s definitely worth it. Even though I didn’t take a lot of pics, I deeply love the ones I took.

So after breakfast and still with my pyjamas on, I took photos of those little details I enjoy everyday, the ones I don’t get tired of looking at. We are really lucky because we live in a pretty and old building, that after some renovations still keeps that charm I fell in love with for the very first time I saw them.

We don’t use the old mailboxes in the entrance anymore, but they still decorate the main entrance. And the old doors in our apartment, with timeworn handles and locks without keys.

The grey stone stairway with its banister, sure as old as the building itself. And the tile floor. It’s a pity they didn’t lay the same tile floor inside the apartments.

And now that winter seems to be ending, although the snow still shows up, there are in the backyard some daring flowers colouring the ground full of pebbles.

At times it’s difficult to get inspired and find new things to photograph in our surroundings, in what we see every day. But sometimes, maybe because of the brilliant light or because we’re more sensitive than normal, those details get clearer, even if nothing has changed, even if everything remains the same.
