Libros de fotografía en mi lista — Photography books on my wishlist
- How to read a photograph – Ian Jefrey: a veces no es tan fácil ver o intuir porque una fotografía funciona mientras otra nos deja indiferentes. En este libro, a través de las fotos de grandes fotógrafos de las últimas decadas, se intenta analizar su evolución, su forma de trabajo, su motivación, para llegar así a entender al fotógrafo y su trabajo.
- Instant Love – Susannah Conway: con el resurgimiento de las Polaroids este libro nos porporciona información detallada para conseguir grandes fotos con nuestra Polaroid. Y aunque yo todavía no me he hecho con una, las imágenes de Susanna son seguro una fuente de inspiración constante.
- Africa – Sebastião Salgado: tengo la suerte de tener cerca de casa una biblioteca con multitud de libros de fotografía, donde puedes pasar mañanas enteras ojeando libros. Uno de ellos, enorme por su peso y su contenido, es este recopilatorio de fotos de Africa de uno de los fotógrafos brasileños más conocidos. Un recorrido por la belleza y la dureza, donde las desgracias humanas y las maravillas naturales se entrelazan.
- Vivian Maier Street Photography: y que os puedo contar de esta mujer que no sepais ya. Una fotógrafa desconocida hasta hace poco, cuyo trabajo fotográfico salío a la luz de casualidad y que no deja a nadie indiferente (aquí podeis ver un aperitivo del documental sobre su vida que saldrá a la luz en pocos meses). Su forma de mirar a través de la cámara me encanta y con Nueva York y sus gentes como protagonistas absolutos, sé lo mucho que voy a disfrutar de este libro.
- Learning to see creatively – Bryan Peterson : hace algunos meses me compré el libro “Understanding Exposure” de este mismo autor. Me gusta mucho la forma que tiene de aclarar conceptos de manera muy visual y sencilla. Así que creo que este otro libro, más orientado a temas de composición, seguro me ayuda a mejorar el lenguaje visual de mis fotos.
- Street photography now – Sophie Howarth & Stephen McLaren: una recopilación de fotografía urbana que muestra sin duda las grandes posibilidades que ofrece este tipo de fotografía.
Y aunque tengo muchos más libros en mi lista, dejaré el resto para otro post.
- How to read a photograph – Ian Jefrey: Sometimes is not that easy to know why some photos work perfectly and others make not different at all. This book, through pics from great photographers from the last decades tries to analyse their evolution, their way of working, their motivation, in order to understand the photographer and their work.
- Instant Love – Susannah Conway: Polaroids have never been gone and The Impossible Project has spread them even more. This book is full of tips for taking great photos with our Polaroid. It’s a pity I don’t have one yet but even without one, Susannah’s photos are a great inspiration.
- Africa – Sebastião Salgado: close to my place there is a huge library with hundreds of photography books that you can check out for free. Lucky me!! :). One of those I recently enjoyed was this compilation from one of the best known Brazilian photographers. A trip within Africa, showing its beauty and harshness, where human tragedies and natural wonders are deeply intertwined.
- Vivian Maier Street Photography: what can I say about this woman, that you haven’t heard before. An unknown photographer recently discovered, whose work came to light by chance and whose photographs leave no one indifferent (here you can see a trailer of the documentary about her live which is coming in the next months). I definitely love the way she portrayed New York and its people.
- Learning to see creatively – Bryan Peterson: some months ago I bought the book “Understanding Exposure” from the same author. I really like how he explains theoretical concepts and techniques, really easy and visually. So definitely this book focused on composition would help me to improve the visual language in my images.
- Street photography now – Sophie Howarth & Stephen McLaren: a great compilation of street photography which shows the huge amount of possibilities, that this kind of photography offers to us.
Although there are many more books on my wishlist, I’ll leave the rest for another post.
Hoy empieza el curso de Photo Meditations con Susannah Conway (os hablaba no hace mucho de este curso aquí). Estoy más que contenta por las próximas cinco semanas, seguro llenas de creatividad, consejos fotográficos y gente muy interesante. Prometo ir enseñando por aquí mis progresos ;)
Today I’m starting the Photo Meditation course with Susannah Conway. I’m so excited and motivated about the next five weeks, for sure full of creative ideas, photography tips and interesting people. I promise I’ll show you here my improvements ;)
